hey I would like to use my compter like a tape recorder. I like to read my
schools books on tape but I figure it is better to have a digital copy of
the sound so I dont I can refer to it later (I normally just record over it
when I am finished listening to it). anyway, is there any good sound
editor/recorder software out there that can help with this? Thanks in
advance!!

dear bryan !
look at http://www.sound.condorow.net
for all your linux sound needs.
i assume you already have a soundcard running, if not, go to
the alsa page at http://alsa-project.org to obtain sound
drivers.
hope this helps,
jörn
