Is there any way to force hostfs never to cache any directory entries?

I.e. I want to be able to easily update my /usr/local/bin directories
     with new versions of the program, compiled from outside of the
     UML.

In particular, when the hostfs is on-top of an NFS mount, the directory
entries get cached overly long.

Also, I've noticed that I can't core dump to hostfs when the underlying
disk is NFS.

(One reason I'm using NFS is because mounting it on multiple boxes
permits me to run our regression testing on multiple machines in
parallel. When running the regression tests, most of the system is 
never touched, as tmpfs provides all the writable space)
