Hi -

I'm interested in working on the AP functionality in the mac80211
stack and was looking for hardware suggestions. There is a list of
drivers on http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers, but is it up to
date or are there additional drivers that now support AP
functionality? Also, what are my best choices for devices in a PCMCIA
or mini PCI form factor? TIA!

It's up to date but... mac80211 doesn't really support hostapd right
now.

Ok, without hostapd I should still be able to setup an unencrypted AP, right?

With regard to driver choices, it looks like the b43 is the way to go
if I wanted to setup something that currently works.

No. You need hostapd anyway to manage the stations etc., we're not going
to put that into the kernel. See my [FYI] mails on the topic.

Certainly it'll be the first one to work since I'm actively working on
that.

We have older version of mac80211 and hostapd over (wext) running in
AP mode with iwl4965.
We will try to rebase it over current versions, with posting patches
very soon. If you want to help reviewing, testing, anything
you are more then welcome.
Thanks
Tomas
