From developers' point of view WEXT is ancient and untested, everybody
should switch to nl80211. So I strongly using iw (which uses nl80211).
Of course this nothing to do with the wlcore warning you saw, just
wanted to make you aware the state of wireless extensions.

Add support for Enhanced Directional Multi-Gigabit (EDMG) channels 9-11.
wil6210 reports it's EDMG capabilities (that are also based on FW
capability) to cfg80211 by filling
wiphy->bands[NL80211_BAND_60GHZ]->edmg_cap.
wil6210 handles edmg.channels and edmg.bw_config requested in connect
and start_ap operations.

Add support for Enhanced Directional Multi-Gigabit (EDMG) channels 9-11.
wil6210 reports it's EDMG capabilities (that are also based on FW
capability) to cfg80211 by filling
wiphy->bands[NL80211_BAND_60GHZ]->edmg_cap.
wil6210 handles edmg.channels and edmg.bw_config requested in connect
and start_ap operations.

802.11ay specification defines Enhanced Directional Multi-Gigabit
(EDMG) STA and AP which allow channel bonding of 2 channels and more.
Introduce new NL attributes that are needed for enabling and
configuring EDMG support.
Two new attributes are used by kernel to publish driver's EDMG
capabilities to the userspace:
NL80211_BAND_ATTR_EDMG_CHANNELS - bitmap field that indicates the 2.16
GHz channel(s) that are supported by the driver.
When this attribute is not set it means driver does not support EDMG.
NL80211_BAND_ATTR_EDMG_BW_CONFIG - represent the channel bandwidth
configurations supported by the driver.
Additional two new attributes are used by the userspace for connect
command and for AP configuration:
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_EDMG_CHANNELS
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_EDMG_BW_CONFIG
New rate info flag - RATE_INFO_FLAGS_EDMG, can be reported from driver
and used for bitrate calculation that will take into account EDMG
according to the 802.11ay specification.

* [PATCH] ath10k: Check if station exists before forwarding tx airtime report

It looks like the FW on QCA9984 already reports the tx airtimes before
the station is added to the peer entry. The peer entry is created in
ath10k_peer_map_event() just with the vdev_id and the ethaddr, but
not with a station entry, this is added later in ath10k_peer_create() in
callbacks from mac80211.
When there is no sta added to the peer entry, this function fails
because it calls ieee80211_sta_register_airtime() with NULL.
This was reported in OpenWrt some time ago:

i just tested you first hunk (which comes from kernel/dma/direct.c if
i'm not mistaken), it did not compile on its own, yet with a tiny bit of
work it did, and it does indeed solve the regression. But if using that
is the "right" way to do it, not sure, but its not on me to decide.

1. It is one of the reasons. Besides, the hardware interrupt has
higher priority than soft IRQ. If next hardware interrupt is coming
faster then the soft IRQ (BH), the software IRQ may always become
pended.
2. Keep the data's state until the interrupt is fully dealt.

According to backtrace, I notice rtw_pci_stop will be invoked in
rtw_power_off, rtw_core_stop which clears the running state.
rtw_core_stop is invoked by rtw_enter_ips due to IEEE80211_CONF_IDLE.
If the stop command comes between the hardware interrupt and soft IRQ
(BH) and there is no start command again, I think user wants the WiFi
stop instead of becoming start again.

You may want to add this to Kconfig test... and maybe it would be good
to mention iwconfig there, for easier grepping.
I'm using rather old distro; I'll update, but kernel is expected to be
back-compatible.. and tested :-).

I tried delays and printks... WL12XX_REG_FUSE_BD_ADDR_1 read fails,

Not right now, but I think it could be fixed.

For now I guess we have to disable it with the new TX API (which is
really what it depends on), we can try to fix the firmware later.

Contrary to what Sebastian states, it certainly is possible today,
although not through wpa_supplicant's config file, only through the
wpa_cli interface, using the VENDOR_ELEM_ADD command. There are various
tests showing how to use this.

I'm not into workarounds any kind, but this is really strange issue,
maybe FW bug that triggers just by slightly different driver behaviour.

Seems not to be related with set_key operation at all. We set 2 HW
keys at the beginning and hang happen after some tx/rx traffic
without any re-keyring.
I'm not sure why disabling HW encryption helps. Maybe it is due to
ordering or timing. With SW encryption we spend more time in mac80211
before pass skb's to the driver. Or maybe we just mix some HW keys
and SW (group) keys in way that FW does not like.

To do not brake HW restart we should keep initialization vectors data.
I assumed that on start the data is already initialized to zeros, but
that not true on some scenarios and we should clear it. So add
additional flag to check if we are under HW restart and clear IV's
data if we are not.
Patch fixes AP mode regression.

Thanks Johannes. I noticed this too and tried adding a config file
option (OpenWRT doesn't compile wpa_supplicant with wpa_cli). I've added
sta_vendor_elements option (exactly like ap_vendor_elements). This is
the code setting vendor_elem:

But when I actually set sta_vendor_elements to something, all it does is
failing the 4-way handshake during association. The IE is perfectly
valid and it works with ap_vendor_elements, no nl80211 malformed IEs
error either. Am I missing something?
