Hi everyone,

After 14 years at Oracle and 23 years working on Linux, I've decided to
take an extended break. Today, October 16th, 2026, is my last day.

I don't have any immediate plans to drop the djwong@kernel.org
forwarding, though ultimately that's up to the sysadmins to decide.

I have very much enjoyed working with you all, and I'm proud of what
we've accomplished together. Good luck!

Oh man.

I totally understand you needing a break, and I hope you have a restful time
away from the noise and fury of the mailing list :)

Though we didn’t do much together on-list, I always enjoyed your
contributions, and really enjoyed working with you while we were both at
Oracle.

I'm sad to see you go, but I want what’s best for you.

I hope it'll be kept for you to come back to if you feel like it :)

You also, thank you so much for all your contributions and best of luck with
whatever comes next!

it was a pleasure to work with you and thanks a lot for all recent
libfuse reviews, all merged now and next libfuse release coming.

Also thanks a lot for all your xfs and other Linux work!

Good luck for your future endeavours and I hope we stay in contact!

Best,
Bernd

You'll be missed. I hope the break is refreshing and restorative!

Hi Darrick,

Really sorry to hear the news. I truly hope that after a well-deserved
extended break, we'll get to see you back around here again.

Of course, if you decide instead to embrace a quiet, pastoral life and leave
all this noise behind for good, I'll have nothing but pure envy, haha ;)

Best of luck with everything, friend!

Thanks,
Zorro

Please make sure to always carry your towel and have a pack of salted
peanuts with you...

Hi Darrick,

It is still a bit of a surprise for me to hear this news, although
things seem to be changing so quickly these days.

Thank you for all the chats online over the years. I've always enjoyed
them. I wish we'd had a chance to meet in person.

I hope you have a great and well-deserved break.

Best Regards,
Gao Xiang
