[1.] Linux freezes after Uncompressing Linux... OK, booting the kernel (no
numlock posssible)

[2.] Wheter I boot with initrd or without, with incompiled reiserfs or as
module or in the initrd I've tried everything
the system freezes after the above given line. I've the same system as
desktop system (the problem occurs on the 'server')
which works fine (Celeron 400 on a Siemens Board with BX440 Chipset, SCSI,
197 Meg RAM)

So what can I do?

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
!!!!!!! Bootet with an other Kernel!!!!!!! as I can't boot with the 2.4.9
Linux version 2.4.4-4GB (root@Pentium.suse.de) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315

[7.7.] I think it is a standard system it worked over 4 years now :)
I've made a memory check which has brought no relevant results :(

Salutations Thomas Hoppe

P.s. I've tried no other kernels before, just the SuSE standard 2.4.4 Kernel,
which still works.

Firstly check you built a kernel for pentium or lower processors, secondly
check you included console support - otherwise it may well be running but
without any console for you to tell

Do you use LILO?
What you describe happens if you replace the image file but don't run "lilo"
again.
check that you haven't forgot that bit :)

--->My Hardware:

P200, 128 Meg Ram, 128 KB Cache on a SuperMicro Board.
Seagate IDE Drive with 13Gig

--->Detailed Report

@Alan, CJ, Pierre, Ori

Its a shame, after 5 years of Linux, my first post
to the Kernel Mailinglist outs me as a dummy!!

Sorry thousand times for wasting your time!

Obviously it was the wrong processor type which
caused the freeze.

But it has one really NIG advantage! I talked to
the real Alan Cox Yippy.

I have to make some phonecallz...

thx and cu
