Builds, boots and works on my 2-socket Ivy Bridge Xeon E5-2697 v2 server. No dmesg 
oddities or regressions found.

Building passed on amd64, arm64, loongarch64, ppc64el, and riscv64. 
Smoke testing passed on 9 amd64 and 1 arm64 test systems.
