Can you please hold off on doing this for a few more days? We have both
NVIDIA and Microsoft involved in fixing the email issues, and it looks
like they may already be solved, in fact.

Ok, thanks. It is common for corporate contributors to use company name in brackets though and I have been using this convention for a long time (as do Oracle, MS, Google etc and even some at Nvidia). Is there a real benefit to us? Tagging company in the name is in fact better for visibility IMO. Especially in screaming caps ;-). It is more important that mailing list traffic does not have issues which unfortunately us and other company domains have experienced. I have been using my domain for a long time without incident. In fact I used it at Google for this exact reason (with proper attribution to Google).

Let us hold off on this patch for now while we are trying to resolve long-standing issues with the public mailing list software and policies related to our mailing list conventions. Sorry for the confusion. thanks!

Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately, that would hide the company
attribution too. Or require it to be in brackets along with the name. There
appears to be resistance to both these. I do feel fortunate to get company time
to work upstream, so, on this matter, I have to go with the company's
preferences.;-). There also appears to be significant progress now to resolve
the email issues which looks promising (thanks Jason, John and everyone for the
efforts!).

Yeah, I meant it only as a solution for the email trouble -- the
attribution in parenthesis would of course still be needed if you /
your company want that.

The one issue I have with people using (or being forced to use) their work
email address is that people switch companies all the time. I find it very
annoying when Cc's suddenly get bounced because it is going to the old
company email address. Worse yet when the developer is still involved with
the upstream community and now they are simply not getting email that they
should be.

This is why I prefer the "(company)" in the email name and not the address.
It allows developers to maintain the same email while they move companies.
I did this for Red Hat, VMware and now Google, and all with the same email
address.

Although I may need to switch to my kernel.org address because my
goodmis.org is being blocked by gmail :-p

Perhaps the .mailmap file will help for that? Though I guess not everyone may
update it once they discontinue old email addresses.
