This patchset includes our pending changes for Qt4 and udev. The udev
patchset does a great cleanup on the udev package reducing a lot the
delta between OE-Core and Meta-OE. Am working at updating the udev to
175 but those patches are the basis for this.

Those has been tested under imx53qsb and O.S. Systems' x86 based
machine definition using internal images running Qt4, Qt4-Embedded,
SysV and SystemD.

The following changes since commit 8f348ccad083d6c02c200652ff6295e701e88f0d:

coreutils: ensure --color works so DEPEND on libcap (2011-12-24 10:05:35 +0000)

are available in the git repository at:
  git://github.com/OSSystems/oe-core master

Allow setting default runtime graphics system engine for Qt4
applications per machine.

Depending on the GPU and Xorg driver, this can boost and impact
significantly the drawing performance. The default setting is to
'raster' as this offer best performance for most machines GPUs.

The 164 version has been the default version for some time and as we
don't have any clear reasoning to keep 145 around, we're removing it
now.

Some files were also removed as 164 recipe provides specific versions
of it and thus those were going to be unused.

We don't have an xserver-common in oe-core, what does it provide?

Is this something that we need to merge over?

that's x11-common equivalent in meta-oe, VIRTUAL_RUNTIME should be used
here like in meta/recipes-sato/tasks/task-core-x11.bb

# xserver-common, x11-common
VIRTUAL-RUNTIME_xserver_common ?= "x11-common"

> Is this something that we need to merge over?

xserver-common added functionality (like xinput-calibrator) should be merged
to x11-common and then xserver-common dropped from meta-oe, but I'm
still busy with other stuff and daywork..

I already commented on these with xserver-common

These first 5 were merged into OE-Core

Richard is reviewing this in more detail.

Done locally; will send an update patchset with this.

It would be awesome if you could look on that soon; this would reduce
another set of delta between OE-Core and Meta-OE.

Please put an if [ -e ] around these since its a couple of exec calls we
could do without if they already exist...

Cheers,

You're adding a ton of exec calls into the boot process here :(

Please can we find some better way to do this without all the exec()
calls?

Cheers,

Richard

Why does udev need to do this instead of the kernel module postinstalls?
This strikes me as the wrong thing to be doing here...

Cheers,

Richard

Udev runs before those installs get run on first boot.

but pkg_postinst_kernel-image from kernel.bbclass should be creating
this at rootfs creation time?

I really don't want to waste too much time on this as I don't use it; I did
a brief look and it might be put onto a sub directory and use diff to
compare avoiding the use of multiple cmp calls but I can't test it myself
as I am working at newer udev updating.
