Hi,
sorry for being late with this. Work and Christmas came into the way.

Our request for a stand at FOSDEM was successful! However as in the
years before we only get one table (I explicitly asked for a second one
and gave a reason for it but they ignored it).

Anyway. Who is going to man the booth?

Regards,
Robert

well... if it is a "single" table in the same way it was last year this will be
fine ;-)

I'm pretty sure I'll be there.

I'm planning to visit, not exactly sure about my schedule though and
whether it leaves time to man the booth.

Frans.

I am planning on attending this year, and could spend some time in the
booth.

Any plans for the "official" OE hotel this year ?

Very good point... I will come by car and bring some random devices with me. I
just have to look around in the office and search for something interesting.
I have flyer and the big poster as well.

Anyone with a good idea what to use to cover the tables?

Greetings

Florian

Probably too late now, but what would be cool would be a white table cloth
with one end printed with OE logo. That end of course hangs over the front.

I guess a t-shirt printer shop might be able to turn one out.

the 1.2 has serial cable
the 1.3 has debug board,wifi,bluetooth
*wrt54gsv4(can boot micro, has a serial port connection soldered on
it)...not shure if I can bring it
*Openmoko freerunner with a broken and badly resoldered button, can run
SHR
*Htcdream,can run SHR
*eeepc 701 which runs angstrom

as someone who has helped out with a number of public functions, i
also recommend a sizable, portable UPS/battery off of which you can
run everything, just in case power goes out, you will keep running for
at least a while. it's just a thought.

I am planning to bring an AT91SAM9G45 running OpenEmbedded.
The stuff I checked in recently needs to be updated.
Did not have time to look at this, since I have been
busy working on a Multitouch touchscreen driver.

Will repeat last years raffle for a AT91SAM9M10 kit - hot of the press!
in the Embedded Room so that should attract visitors to the booth.

See you there!

Best Regards
Ulf Samuelsson

Ulf,

Can you make sure your commit messages look like:

http://wiki.openembedded.net/index.php/Commit_log_example

Also check your patches do not get word wrapped. If they get into
patchwork in a form that can be applied with git-am, it is much much
easier for us to commit them.

Philip

Thanks, I realized they were not ideal when they popped up in the
changelist.
I will check this page before any more updates.

Very good - do you think it would be a good idea to bring a AT91SAM9G10-EK as well?

That's a great idea!

Ok great! Then I will focus on different looking devices.

Oh that's something we should be able to fix :-)

Do we need one? I will have my laptop with me so that we can show OE in action.

The SAM9G10 is basically a SAM9261S with fixed LCD to do
RGB instead of BGRI. I never bothered to get one anyway.

The SAM9G45 is a completely different beast
with DDR2, High Speed USB, dual busses (unlike SAM9263,
it has real high throughput on both), and in its
SAM9M10 variety it has H/W support for Video Decoding
H.263/4, MPEG-2,MPEG-4, JPEG etc.

hmm... pretty cool, that's something I would like to test some time :-)

A big thanks to Robert and Florian for organizing the booth, and every
who has helped staff the table.

Hi,
I just noticed that we forgot to mention our FOSDEM attendance in the
news section of the Wiki. Could somebody add the following text, so that
at least afterwards people can find out that we'd have been there:

--

OpenEmbedded attended europe's largest free software conference
FOSDEM'12 in Brussels. Thanks for all the helpers and guests at our
booth[0]. See you soon at a F/OSS event near you!

I tried but despite having edit privileges to other pages I am not permitted
to edit the front page :(

Phil sorted out my access, so I have fixed the above and added Robert's news
entry.

Every year since 2007, OpenEmbedded has a stand at FOSDEM
(http://www.fosdem.org)

From the first year:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/32615155@N00/405229708/in/album-72157594561002629/

Belen and I are sort of organizing this, but both of us are also
involved in devrooms, so we will need a lot of help manning the stand
and getting some demos together.

Demos should try and show how the project makes embedded work easier, by
showing tools and/or cool examples of devices using Linux built with
OpenEmbedded. In previous years, we've shown toaster with data collected
from demos on the table. Collections of devices running images built
from the same recipe and interesting products using Linux by OpenEmbedded.

I'm happy to try and organize demos and staffing, but I could really use
some help this year, so if you are in a position to tak ethe lead on
operating the stand, that would be a huge help to me and the rest of the
project.

Thanks,

Philip
