I can provide complete logs of the ppcboot-users and the u-boot-users
mailing lists. I think this is an excellent chance to get a seachable
archive of both.

However, my archives include not only postings sent through the
mailing lists, but also some messages that were sent directly to my
address. I am certain that they do not include any confidential
information, and that they are all U-Boot related.

Is there anybody who sent me such "private" communication who objects
against putting these messages into a public archive?

Best regards,

Wolfgang Denk

Do you honestly expect people to rummage through their logs and brains
just because you poured all mails into one bucket? I really don't have
time for this. Therefore, please consider all my mails I sent to you
without copying the list to be of private nature which I don't want to
be disclosed. I would strongly advise you to excercise this policy for
everyone else as well.

Have you contacted Sourceforge? They should have complete log of all
relevant mails.

Thank you,
Marius

I remember we had exchanged a couple of private emails.

They DO NOT contain any confidential information and you
DO have my permission to use them.

Thanks for everything you had done.

I really hope other people will find a couple of minutes
to send similar mesages.

I am all for searchable archives and honestly I am not excited about
sourceforge search capabilities (often multiple word searches do not work
etc).

However, with newsgroups there comes the increase in spam! Sf.net
subscriptions are receiving surprisingly low levels of spam as far as I
can see. If it is archived in newsgroups, I strongly prefer the archives
are filters and email addresses are either removed or shortened so they
cannot be used when harvested. For example, yahoo lists convert email
address to something like "wd at den..."

I prefer private mail sent directly to you stay private. Obviously, it is
highly likely that it will be u-boot related but the sender did not feel
comfortable to ask send in the list etc. in the first place.

I belive direct emails should stay off list. I hope you can continue to
honor that.

I agree. I'm not happy with SF either.

Have a look how Gmane handles this.

BTW: it was not my idee to register with Gmane, I just happened to
get asked if it's OK with me. Which it is.

Marius raised concers before, so I excluded all such stuff.

Of course I will.

Thanks Rod, and everybody else, but one Veto is enough. I had to omit
all those messages even if they contained material that definitely
would have been useful to others.
