I have a VERY simple 8240 board - SDRAM, flash and a 16550 UART in int 3 of the EPIC.
Is there a minimal PPC 8240 or 603 configuration that I can start with? The Sandpoint has that irritating Winbond chip...

Check out the Artis A3000. It's similar to the '8245 Sandpoint, but
uses the internal UART.
The Broadcom BMW is another one you may want to examine.

Argh... I think there are much simpler 8240 boards. See for example CU824.
But all this would be easy to find with verly little inspection of the code.
