Sending a FAX simply??

Greetings: Does a simple fax program or script exist for sending
short, simple, text only faxes to one recipient with no cover pages,
etc and so forth?? Possibly there is a book/manual that will let me
learn more about Faxing.. The modem manuals barely cover much of
anything. :^(...

Been using efax for years with almost perfect success until I
installed kernel 2.4.* on a machine with a USR Courier V-Everything
FaxModem.

I looked at mgetty+sendfax and HylaFax - both super programs but way
too complicated for my use.. Using dosemu with simple Dos Fax
programs also ran into a snag.. BTW an external Zoom modem works fine
and the Courier works fine with the 2.2.x kernel.. Subscribed to the
efax list server but no response..

Any suggestions? TIA.

Hallo Hal,

try "sendfax". It is very reliable, straight ahead and simple. There is a 
mail list you might want to subscribe,  "mgetty@muc.de",   author of the 
program is Gert Doering, gert@greenie.muc.de.

Of course, you have to familiarize yourself to the program. I think, there is 
nothing so simple as that you dont have to invest some time studying some 
instructions, even not a real fax machine.

efax works fine with my old v.34 internal and 2.4.13, so I finally
daisy-chained that with the V-Everything and use /dev/tts/3 for efax
and /dev/tts/2 for pppd.
