Step one was getting the commit_super patch into the kernel, I sent that
this morning. All of the data logging stuff depends on it, and we
wanted to get the major changes in first.

Seems you have priority on Marcelos task list? ;-) Very nice! Push them
all!!!
But, err, I wanted the old
ftp://ftp.namesys.com/pub/reiserfs-for-2.4/2.4.19-pre7.pending
things to be actualized and also Olegs previously mentioned "hidden"
ones to appear at least on the namesys server...
Olegs messages made me think of hundreds kB of namesys patches to come
additionally to yours and the old ones...
Dunno, why we shouldn't have tried "them" until now, on rational base...
Best wishes,
Manuel

Yes, I forgot,
I want your patches to be on the namesys server in _this_ pending
directory, too, at least. Especially after Hans' latest remark.
There should be more service on ReiserFS overall integrity, maybe,
including your quota related work(!).

That would be nice, but I only sent it this morning it hasn't been
accepted yet. It is going through the same approval process everything
else does.

Right, Hans' idea was to get the biggest change (which is most likely to
break) in first, then get the trivial stuff in later. I think it's a
good idea.

Well, the namesys guys don't sit around playing cards all day ;-) Most
of their big patches are features (blocksize < 4k) or performance
improvements.

2.4.19 needed to get out, not have more patches added ;-)

Many of my patches do end up in the namesys pending directory. The ones
I put on the suse ftp server are there because I expect to have to
maintain them over the long term, and I want them applied as a specific
controlled set.
The namesys site could mirror them, but it is usually easier to keep
things up to date by just linking to my ftp directory on a web page.
It does make it a little more difficult to follow the bleeding edge, but
that's supposed to hurt, it adds to the sense of reward.
You're right though, I'll start signing the stuff on my ftp directory.

Actually blocksizes != 4k, you know there are Alpha and ia64 guys out there,
and some of them are probably using reiserfs (at least they might ;) ).
Also with recent trend to increase PAGE_CACHE_SIZE, bigger blocksizes should
become available to x86 users too.
Bye,
Oleg
