Is there some (hard) reason why lvmcreate is limited to a 128 stripe
count?

Found it.
There's no kernel-side limitation and no lvm2-format metadata limitation
I can think of.
Just a restriction inherited from LVM1 that we've never had cause to remove.

Yeah, I noticed the kernel-side looked like it didn't care. Hadn't
thought about LVM1 being the cause...
