Does it happen when connecting to 'n' or 'b' class networks? this could
be network specific :/

One more thing I've observer is that with ath9k driver card's radio is not that poweful compared to ndiswrapper. If I do iwlist wlan0 scanning using ath9k card only able to find two wireless network & shows very poor signal strength even if its next to AP. however using ndiswrapper card able to scan almost 7 wireless network. I'm not sure if its something to do with radio power r not but a wild guess.

Also can I do a wireless mesh networking using ath9k driver? If yes, can anybody let me know the steps or tools?

cheers,

Hi Luis,

Thanks for that. Howerver wouldn't be these patches pushed through git? I normally uses git pull to update the source.

A few of you have reported issues with packet loss, we only recenlty
started to be able to reproduce some of these issues and we are looking
into them and will work to resolve them ASAP.

Just so we know, do you folks have the latest patches applied?

I'm using an ordinary Desktop-PC with Kubuntu and an selfbuilded
Kernel-2.6.26.2 / Kernel-2.6.26.rc3. with both Kernels I tried the Ath9k
using a D-Link DWA-547 (AR5416 inside). I simply have the same lossrate
of up to over 50% while connecting to a 11g network.
So unfortunately it doesn't seam to be just a problem of AR5418.

Hi Luis,

I'm using static IP address on wifi interface. Its almost immediate once interface comes up, if I try to ping to gateway or any other system in same subnet the there is packet loss. If I try ssh or any other service on that interface the session becomes slow like for a while stop responsing (like used to be using dial-up service to a remote machine).

Let me know if you need any specific logs etc. I'll be more then happy to provide that.

cheers,

-amit-

Directly. I didn't at any point get a good link.

Hi Luis,

Beside the reporting from iwconfig, we are also having packet drops. I'm not sure how to resolve that. I guess OS controls the traffic on interface on the speed reported under iwconfig. That is my exp so far with wifi cards. Even if signal strength is 70-80 & speed is 1Mb, the communication really becomes choppy.

cheers,

Link quality is not 100% correct, its actually better. We need to add
noise floor calibration to get it to report more accurate values. So
for now just use it as a guide. Also the rate reported by iwconfig is
not correct, please rely on iperf for proper performance tests.

  Luis

I just built and tested out kernel 2.6.27-rc4 (with ath9k drivers
included) on my MacBook Pro 3,1. There's good news and there's bad
news.

The good news is that the AR5418 is discovered and added as a device,
and it works! It associates and I can ping places.

The bad news is that it's really, really slow. iwconfig reported a
network speed of 1Mbps, vs. the 24Mbps+ that I get from madwifi (this
is a g network). Link quality seems normal; it hangs around 15-30/100
compared to around 20/70 under madwifi. However, I get 65%+ packet
loss just pinging my router from ath9k, and zero from madwifi.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there anything I can do to help
it get fixed? Unfortunately I don't have any experience with wifi
drivers, so I'd not be much use for code... but I can run tests and
collect debug info if necessary.

Thanks,
Jeremy
