Hi,
Have some implemented the Reiser4 support on the program 'parted'?
Parted is available from http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/
Download from: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/
If yes, please send the the link.
If, no will we will implement immediately.
Thanks,
Giovanni

Suff itself is not difficult, as there is not tree modifications, etc. Rough sequence is like this: (1) make sure, that there is no not replied transactions. (2) tree traverse and move all nodes and unformatted blocks which do not fit to new range (new_start - new_end) one by one to new area. Block allocator info should be updated on this stage too. (3) update some fields in super block. Probably one more update of block allocator. The framework for all these actions exists in libreiser4. The FS is stable enough for my use, but I won't use it for anything except temporary partitions (/tmp /var/tmp /usr/portage) because if I need to resize I have to recreate. It makes LVM so pointless. I have also seen people mention that the lack of resizing capabilities is a major roadblock for them to adopt reiser4. I can completely understand working out bugs first; however, apart from that I believe it should be given quite high priority. -- Sami Samhuri [-- Attachment #2: Type: application/pgp-signature, Size: 189 bytes --] ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 22+ messages in thread

Well, quotas are more common imo, but they shouldn't be difficult either. Best of luck with the resizer anyway, Dr. Orlando's team and the community will test it even if Namesys disables it by default :) -- mjt ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 22+ messages in thread

I check this matter yesterday. Past parted versions needs only to build the library, however I need to inspect in depth. I suspect that I need to write the code :-( . I will survive. So, I guess, it will be not a problem to add such a support to parted after resizing, copying code in libreiser4 is ready ;) BTW, mkfs, fsck, etc. support (probably all but resize and copy) can be added anytime... -- umka ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 22+ messages in thread
