Sorry for delayed response, I have been away...
I am currently in middle of extended testing on the same
storage, so I cannot reproduce the problem until next week.

I cannot remember the exact message, but this is pretty
Close:
"Unsupported filesystem type, or Too many mounted filesystems"

I know the filesystem type is supported because I already have 48
mounted.

When the test completes on Monday, I will capture exact output,
including
output from mount and system log.

I really appreciate the time and responses !

Frank

<>Can you post the kernel message log with that message in it?
<
<I don't think he said it was a kernel message. And since the
<kernel has not traditionally issued a message when failing a
<mount for any reason, I suspect it's a message from the
<program doing the mount. But I don't know how a mount program
<would recognize such a condition. util-linux 'mount'
<has a message that includes "too many mounted filesystems" in

<
<By the way, it's always a good idea to use the -t (type)
<option on util-linux 'mount'. You get better diagnostic

<'mount' tries types until one works and can't tell the
<difference between a bad guess at the type and a legitimate
<mount failure.

I cannot seem to increase the maximum number of
filesystems on my Red hat system running kernel
2.4.21-4.Elsmp. I have already tried to increase
NR_SUPER in fs.h and fie-max, and file-nr in
/proc/sys/fs, this does not help. When searching
through documentation I see references to super-max
file in /proc/sys/fs, but I do not see it on my system ? Please CC me
on the reply as I am not on
the list.

Thanks in Advance,

Frank
