Ok, this is probably something this list deals with on a regular basis;
I tried searching online, even on Marcel's site but I can't seem to find
the solution to my problem.
First off, some specs:
Ubuntu Linux
2.6.11 Kernel w/mh2 patch
Latest BlueZ Utiles (that available from the ubuntu sources)
Generic USB Bluetooth Adapter
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard
This setup works just fine to syncronize my T68 through Multisync but
when I try to connect to my keyboard here's what happens:
lampshade:/home/andre# hidd --conn 00:0A:95:3E:CC:74
Can't create HID control channel: Function not implemented
lampshade:/home/andre# hidd --conn 00:0A:95:3E:CC:74
Can't create HID control channel: Connection timed out
lampshade:/home/andre# hidd --conn 00:0A:95:3E:CC:74
Can't create HID control channel: Device or resource busy
and if I try to search for my keyboard:
lampshade:/home/andre# hidd --search
Searching ...
Connecting to device 00:0A:95:3E:CC:74
Can't create HID control channel: Function not implemented
Now, I'm sure there is something that I forgot to do or don't know to do.
I'd appreciate any help, even one pointing me to a how to (I have a
feeling this keyboard may be a little special, so I'd love a specific
howto) If you need any more information I'll be glad to provide it.

the Apple keeping is using security mode 3, which it should not, but ...
Run "hcidump -X -V" as root and show us the dump while you are trying to
connect. Try to input "0000" on your numeric pad and then press enter or
call "hciconfig hci0 auth" before you connect for the first time.

Trust Apple to almost conform to standard, but now quite :P.
hcidump -X -V gave me an error message that -V was an invalid option.
However I ran it without that option and here's the output.

During this time I tried inputting 0000 and hit enter on the Apple keyboard.
Is this an expierence that most people encounter with one of these
keyboards? I'm just wondering if I should start thinking of trying my
hand at my first howto describing how to get this up and working.

Now I have a feeling we're getting closer... I'm also curious about the
No Devices in range or visible message, there shouldn't be any sort of
range problems, I'm within about 50cm of the transmitter. I'm wondering
if the keyboard just isn't responding appropriatly.

now you have to fix this problem above. The hcid is not getting the
correct PIN code from the PIN helper program. Check the mailing list
archive for a solution or workaround for this problem.

Thanks Marcel,
I got it working, turns out when I updated the bluez utils it overwrote
my old hcid.conf file, and disregarded the pin help program specified.
The one it put in it's place (bluepin) doesn't work, for whatever reason
(probably missing components to display it on my system). Whe I changed
it to bluez-pin it prmpted me just like it was sopposed to. Everything
is working great now.
