Hello,
I want add support for ALSA to the Thinstation Linux distribution
(http://thinstation.sf.net).

It's Linux distribution designed/created for thin client and small size
is very important.

ALSA driver are compilled as kernel modules (current kernel version in
Thinstation 2.2RC4 is 2.6.16.5.

What part of ALSA software (alsa-lib, alsa-tool, alsa-oss, etc) I must add ?

In next step I want use ALSA with libao for Music Player Deamon
(http://www.musicpd.org).

Thanks for help.

Best regards

- alsa-lib so that can use alsa-utils (see below)
- alsa-utils so that you can set the mixer to sg more relevant
  than muted sound...
- alsa-firmware if your sound cards need a firmware
- alsa-tools if your card need some specialized tool

alsa-oss may be needed to play with some odd applications or in order
to play while other apps are playing too on a card w/o hw mixer.
I don't know for alsa-plugins
