hi guys!

my new "Linux hope 2.4.23 #1 Sat Nov 29 12:40:39 CET 2003 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux" -- kernel says:

An unexpected IO-APIC was found. If this kernel release is less than
three months old please report this to linux-smp@vger.kernel.org

to be honest all i think to know about apic is that you can turn it on during kernel config and that it may be beneficial even for single processeor systems. so i pasted the whole dmesg output of the freshly booted machine and hope it will be of some use!

if you want / need some additional information please let me know!

yours
markus

Hi,
with "acpi_apic_instance=2"
I get APIC error on CPU1: 00(40) (with dmesg) - so I guess working
better is with acpi_apic_instance=0. acpi_apic_instance=2I attached the
output of dmidecode. By the way I have big problems with overheating and
therefore shutting down, but I am not sure if that is related.
Cheers,
Sebastian
