My question is I think in hindsight misinterpretable.

What I mean is; you're a reasonable and intelligent bloke.  You have 
your views in this matter and Linus et al have theirs; they thought what 
you said was crazy.  Having heard them out, what did you think of what 
they said?  were there valid arguments in there?
