Hi there,
I'm trying to debug ath9k with debugfs without success.
I already followed this explanation
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k/debug#Debugfs_files_for_ath9kbut
instead of getting /sys/kernel/debug/ath9k/phy1,the most similar
structure that I get is /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0
(i.e., no ath9k directory, the ieee80211 dir only contains the directory
phy0 and phy0 is an empty directory).
I'm running arch linux (kernel 2.6.35) and my chipset is the AR9285.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jo?o Maur?cio

That's an old kernel, the docs are for the latest and greatest. If you
want to figure out if an issue is fixed you should upgrade. For
debugging you want:
CONFIG_ATH9K_DEBUGFS=y
CONFIG_ATH_DEBUG=y
If you want to use the latest and greatest you can use
wireless-testing.git or compat-wireless. If you use wireless-testing
you will be compiling the entire kernel. With compat-wireless you only
compile the 802.11 stuff and its backported down to older kernels. If
you use compat-wireless you can just cp defconfigs/atheros-debug.mk
config.mk, that already has the debugging stuff flags enabled.

Actually, I'm using the latest kernel (2.6.35-7) with the latest
compat-wireless drivers from here
http://wireless.kernel.org/download/compat-wireless-2.6/.
I guess that the debugfs options are already set, cause the command "zcat
/proc/config.gz | grep ATH9K" throws:
CONFIG_ATH9K_HW=m
CONFIG_ATH9K_COMMON=m
CONFIG_ATH9K=m
CONFIG_ATH9K_DEBUGFS=y
CONFIG_ATH9K_HTC=m
CONFIG_ATH9K_HTC_DEBUGFS=y
:S
What do you suggest? =(

Ath ath9k debug dir is in the base of debugfs, ie:
[root at a230-ath9k ~]# cat /debug/ath9k/phy0/wiphy
primary: phy0 (SCAN chan=5 ht=0)
addr: 00:15:6d:84:23:0b
addrmask: ff:ea:92:f3:89:00
rfilt: 0x8017 UCAST MCAST BCAST BEACON MCAST_BCAST_ALL

Ok, but the thing is that when I do something like "mount -t debugfs debug
/mnt/debug" the directory "ath9k" isn't created, only these:
bdi
gpio
ieee80211
mce
sched_features
tracing
usb
virtio-ports
x86

Well, maybe your attempt at compiling the compat-wireless didn't
work out so well.
I haven't used compat-wireless, but at least wireless-testing has
debugfs working fine for ath9k.
Thanks,
Ben

Hello,
I am facing the same problem. I am using backports drivers 3.10.4.1 along
with kernel 3.4.56.
Somebody please reply.
Thanks,
Ujala Gupta
