hi,

I connected my AP with client by cable, both of them use 9280 card.
AP's driver is madwifi with proprietary hal, client with ath9k driver
on ubuntu 10.10.
I have done a few test for this 1x1 configuration.

from the result i saw if AP is set with chainmask 2, the traffic is
almost down,
and chain 1 vs chain 2 is a little worse than chain 1 vs chain1.
Am i wrong with some bad configurations for this card?

Following is the result:

(5Ghz, 40Mhz, Cable connection between AP and client, iperf tcp)

1. AP chainmask(tx/rx) 1 , client chainmask(tx/rx) 1
   - AP Rx 100Mbps
   - AP Tx 90Mbps

2. AP chainmask 1 , client chainmask 2
    - AP Rx 50Mbps
    - AP Tx 90Mbps

3. AP chainmask 2 , client chainmask 2
    - AP Rx 0
    - AP Tx 0

4. AP chainmask 2 , client chainmask 1
   - AP Rx 0
   - AP Tx 0

best regards,
kang haiyang

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say "chainmask 2" on the AP.

How many antennas does your AP have?

How are you configuring the chainmask and chain?

ok. this is a word in my AP driver. in datasheet, maybe same with
chain_sel_x,
which specifies the active chain in the tx descriptor.

only one, but i can add.
for this test, i connect ap and client with one cable with 50dbm
attenuation.
> How are you configuring the chainmask and chain?
on ap, i change my driver directly.
on client, i use ath9k's debugfs interface, which contains tx_chainmask
and rx_chainmask.
