Greetings,

Today I bought a NETGEAR1100 N150 USB 802.11 adaptor and tried to get it to work on Ubuntu 11.04, with WireShark.
It works in promiscuous mode, but I need access to the radio frame info. Unfortunately, WireShark doesn?t let me put the interface in monitor mode (not even with the suggested cmd line switches).
I got the latest firmware (1.3) pointed to by http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k_htc  (after fixing the bad link there) and placed it in /lib/firmware (as ar9271.fw and after saving the file that was there).
With this new firmware in place the adaptor doesn?t initialize and I get these errors:

When I change back to the original firmware (in /lib/firmware as it came with a standard Ubuntu 11.04), everything works again, except for monitor mode.
Any suggestions?

I have a pair of TPLINK TL-WN722N that I am using with Kubuntu 11.04.

If you want to use the new firmware then you need to install 
compat-wireless.

So I had a few issues with the stock 11.04 ath9k_htc driver and putting 
the devices into AP mode. Even when in managed mode I was getting a very 
poor rate. After installing compat-wireless-3.0.2 and firmware 1.3 my 
devices have been humming.
