Hi,
I am trying to build OE with the latest source (i.e. from MASTER) - but images that used to work are now failing (x11-gpe-image, console-image). The failure seems to be in bash, as you can see in the attached log files.
Is this a known issue?
Thanks!

Ah ha! So, what's going on here is that upstream patches that we fetch
have the 'bad' behavior of encoding '..' into the path and newer
versions of 'patch' fail to apply these due to security concerns.
We can kludge around this by making the recipe use say 'git' as the
patch apply tool but someone should go yell at upstream. Or we need to
update to a newer version of bash where maybe upstream is publishing
better behaved patches.

Hi,
Perhaps a dumb question, but ... do I need to do this? I can give it a try (though I'm not quite sure I understand what needs to be changed). Just trying to figure out how to get this working again.
Thanks!

Since you have a failing setup, yes, please :)
To make git be used as the patch tool, add
PATCHTOOL = "git" to the recipe, increase the PR and add a comment about
why we do this.

Has anyone had any luck with bash lately? I can't get it to build - so even console-image fails.
Thanks!

FYI - I (locally) deleted the bash 3.2 recipe ...and the build works fine now! It seems that bash 3.0 is fine, but 3.2 has issues for some reason.
Hopefully this saves someone else the same grief.

Starting Friday, I noticed builds(n450) failing due to files not being
found. This morning it's still failing on 4 kernel.org modules:
i.e.
http://kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/module-init-tools/module-init-tools-3.16.tar.bz2
