Hi all,
I?m completely newbie in Linux drivers. In my project we are planning to connect an AR9390 Atheros chip on a GRX288 Lantiq board. This board has a software framework (UGW 5.2) which is based on Linux kernel 2.6.32.42 version and OpenWrt Backfire 10.03.
I have some initial questions:
*	Does ATH9K driver support AR9390 chipset?
*	Which Linux kernel version is necessary to support AR9390 chipset? I didn?t find this chipset on the ATH9K driver site (http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k), but according to the site AR9380 requires a Kernel version greater than 2.6.36.
*	Does anybody tried to connect AR9390 to a Lantiq board based on UGW software?
Best regards,
Ana

Hi Ana,

OpenWrt doesn't use the mac80211 driver release built-into the kernel. So all
you need to do is to make sure the mac80211 package containing the ath9k driver
is a recent enough version, and that which still work well even on Linux 2.6.32.

Good luck!

Daniel and Mohammed,
Thank you for your answers.
I?ve just configured UGW 5.2 to enable ATH9K into mac80211.
Although, I still have an important question:

Which kernel version do I need to have a version of ATH9K driver that supports chipset AR9390? I didn?t find this answer in ATH9K developer?s site (http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k). I understood I?ll need to install a compatibility package in order to have the correct version of the driver running on my board, so I need to know the correct version of ATH9K that supports that chipset.
Could you help me, please?

Thanks and regards,
Ana

Hi folks!
I enabled the mac80211 package into kernel but I was not successful so far.
I?d like to be sure I?m using the correct package. I?m using compat-wireless-2011-06-22 from OpenWrt?s site (http://mirror2.openwrt.org/sources/) which was the version used by Lantiq?s UGW 5.2 software.
I?d like to be sure if this version of compat-wireless supports AR9390 or not. Otherwise, I?d like the directions to change the compat-wireless for a newer version into Lantiq?s software (based on OpenWrt).
Can anyone help me, please?
Thanks In advance and best regards,
Ana
