While testing setting tx & tx-chains, I notice that if I set both tx and rx to 0x2
on a 3x3 NIC, then the hardware starts failing resets and will not work.
I *can* set it to 0x1 or 0x7 and those work fine (haven't tried all other
combinations yet).
Is there some restriction to the chain masks?

There shouldn't be. I _think_ the only proviso is that we're supposed
to be calibrating on all the chains, whether or not we use them.
Maybe verify that we're doing calibration on all of them?
