Hi,

The following patch adds support for the Barco LTP->DVI I2C adapter to
the i2c-parport driver.

Looks good except for the extra blank line.

Can you please tell more about that device? I googled for K5800236 but
no match. I also don't understand how a LTP->DVI converter is possible
at all. Please enlighten us.

Certainly. It's a parport I2C adapter with a DVI connector on it which
we use for writing the DDC eeproms during production of our Barco
displays. The reason for the DVI connector is just for easy wiring as
you can then use a standard DVI cable for it.

The K58000236 number is the internal Barco order number for the
adapter.

I can provide you the schematics if you are interested, but it's
basically just a 74128 line buffer and a few diodes and resistors.

OK, I get it now. You don't really get the video signal through the
parallel port. Pfew :)

Is there any reason why someone outside of Barco would use that interface
and driver?

May I have a Barco device for free, just to test the driver? :)

No - that would have been kinda cool though ;)

Realistically no. I could provide the schematics and someone could
make their own prints, but as all of the parport boards are pretty
much the same anyway, it doesn't really have any advantages compared
to the one in Documentation/i2c/busses/i2c-parport.

The reason why I would like it included is simply that it doesn't
harm anyone and it would make it easier for us since it's used by
several people - some without much Linux mojo, so having it in the
mainline kernel would be nice instead of having to patch the kernels.

OK, fair enough, I was thinking quite the same. The overhead is indeed
so thin it's not even worth arguing about.
