It would also be useful to explain how to select the intel_pstate driver as
whilst the Kubuntu 14.04 kernel has it compiled in it does not select it by
default.

root(a)quad:~# cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_driver
acpi-cpufreq

root(a)quad:~# grep -i pstate /boot/config-3.13.0-43-generic
CONFIG_X86_INTEL_PSTATE=y

CPU is IVB.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz (fam: 06, model: 3a, stepping: 09)

All the best,
Chris

Good catch, I added the edit on our https://01.org/powertop/get-involved
 page since that requirement only pertains to PowerTOP.

Thank you,
Alexandra.

Thanks for the idea, but it doesn't look like it..

$ cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-43-generic root=UUID=3b13f4db-6ba3-47c9-aa78-2b52ae5c4807 ro rootflags=subvol=@ quiet splash nomdmonddf nomdmonisw nomdmonddf nomdmonisw vt.handoff=7

I don't see any mention of pstate in dmesg. :-(

All the best,
Chris

Just having a quick look and found a typo - at the start of page 6 it says:

  ls /sys/class/powecap/intel_rapl

but on my Kubuntu machine it's:

 ls /sys/class/powercap/intel-rapl

So a missing 'r' and an underscore rather than a hyphen.

Hope this helps!

All the best,
Chris

These instructions

https://01.org/community/participation-guidelines#git

could mention something like 'before submitting patches to maillist
check them with up to date linux kernel checkpatch.pl script', in
which the script name is a link to

http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/plain/scripts/checkpatch.pl
