I set up http://openembedded.uservoice.com/ ages ago, when I first
heard about uservoice, when it was beta. The interface is much nicer
than bugzilla for users to request features, and has a nice easy
voting mechanism to determine what users find to be the most important
features. I think we should play around with it, and see if it's
worth using for that purpose. I think it is, personally. Leon
Woestenberg just had a bitbake feature request, which brought this to
mind.

Hi,

I'm kind of wary of tool profileration, especially if it means we are
not masters of our own data anymore. I also never understood what kind
of problems people were having with bugzilla. I've directly asked a few
people and there was basically only one lesson learned; those who
complain don't know about the features that bugzilla offers.

Let me know where you think bugzilla in general and the way we use it in
OE in particular falls short and I will either point out the button
you've missed so far or work on a fix ;-) Seriously!

OE as a community has a tendency of "Let's throw a new tool at it and
everything will be pie". Will we ever learn that is not the case?

Regards

Rolf

Bugzilla is lovely for tracking *bugs*. Just as with wikis, it's
often overloaded for things it's not at all good for.

That being said, I thought http://bugseverywhere.org which I stumbled
across today sounded like an interesting concept.

Well, it was you who you managed to throw bugzilla into the discussion
;-) And it was you who failed to somehow explain the void and how
uservoice is the best tool to fill that void.

I guess, what I'm trying to say is, please elaborate and advocate a bit.

I'm not going to advocate for something I've used for all of 10
minutes. I proposed that it was something we should look at and
determine if it's worth using. I'd suggest you re-read the initial
mail that started this thread, as clearly you failed to grasp it the
first time around.
