Hallo List,
I have a problem with my mixer in the creative audixy card.
Even If I turn the slider of "Music" to maximum, the wavetable midi is still
far too silent. much more silent than playing pcm output.
But pcm output can also be adjusted when using slider "Wave"
But apart "Wave" and "Music" I have not seen any other slider working.
"Master" does not work either
Does anybody use a creative audixy with linux and alsa ?
Does anybody have the same problem ?
Is there a solution ?
I would be able to solve the problem by myself, but i dont have a register map
of the mixer.

Neither we. We have all information about Audigy from Creative open source
driver. Check http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1 .

We have no DSP code for reverb and chorus effects.

OSS driver has an example chorus code for SB Live, but it's not
compatible with ALSA DSP codes because of difference of interfaces.
And audigy seems having different command and constant values than
sb live, so anyway it cannot be applied straightforwardly.

The Master and PCM volumes belong to AC97.
And it seems the bus connected for output is irrelevant to AC97
control unlike SB Live.
Strangely, I once got a similar report as you described, but after
that I got another report that AC97 affects the front volume
actually. So I'm puzzled..
The difference between "Music" and "Wave" is depending on your
soundfont. Most of soundfonts are composed with relatively lower
volumes.

Hallo Takashi,
I am trying to understand the internals of my audixy card, but it is
quite hard for me, because i am a newbie to the audixy, and i am a newbie to
soundcard internals too.
I have been brosing through the source of the alsa driver to understand things,
but it goes very slowly.
I have once seen a (advertisment like)block diagram of the emu10k1 chip and how
it for example accesses the sound font per pci bus mastering.
Browsing the code i realise, there is the auxixy card, there is a dsp there is
an ac97 (what is this actually) there is the emu10k1(is this actually one chip
???) there are input and output ports, there is fx(what does this mean), fx can
somehow be routed. Does the dsp code determine the routing behaviour ???
so many questions.
In the first step most helpful would be a huge block diagram showing which
parts exist and how they are connected.

I have an old soundfont from my old awe 64 card. so i'll try this instead.

I'm currently in the process of adding support for my HP dv4-1222nr laptop to the drivers. It has an IDT 92HD71B7 codec chip and no matter how hard I try, the mixer wants to default to the ATI SB one. I'm checking my /proc and dmesg and it's telling me the same thing. The weird thing is that using "model=hp-dv5" in my modprobe is fixing the 0x0d node speaker problem and my mods to get the digital microphone operative are working somewhat. However, the mixer in the sigmatel source shows that it's capable of adding dmic boost to the mixer controls. A printk I added in the source at the point where it would start processing the dmic is not even reaching the function. I tried adding my subsystem id to the PCI quirks and that didn't even help. I'm lost... Any ideas?
