In latest kernels, the file /usr/src/linux/include/asm/sgi/sgihpc.h
has become /usr/src/linux/include/asm/sgi/hpc3.h. Both files need to
be checked in configure.in now to determine SGI architecture.

Ok, I fixed this, and then discover that a Makefile is not generated in
/hal2 directory, so the build dies at that point. What should I use for
a Makefile template for this directory? Has anyone built this successfully?

are you using 2.6 kernel?

if yes, it's good chance to move hal2 driver to alsa-kernel tree,
i.e. eventually to 2.6 linux tree, so that more people can see it.
(so far, it's been in alsa-driver tree because no one tested it :)

please move hal2 directory under alsa-kernel, edit Makefile and
Kconfig there. and on alsa-driver tree, you can do just like parisc
directory.
