for alsa-utils you don't need any configure arguments.

the error message suggests that you didn't make install on alsa-lib.
please check whether /usr/share/aclocal/alsa.m4 exists.

this is weird.
there has been no fundamental change about this.
please try the following

	# fuser -k /dev/snd/* /dev/dsp* /dev/mixer*
