Unfortunately I don't have much time to test but yes, it was present
last time I tried.
I'll try -rc7-git probably tonight and 2.6.27.8 when -stable team releases it.

Unfortunately I can see nothing wrong in this log, it's basically
identical to the good resume case.
The hang lasted 3min 57sec, just for the record.

2.6.27.8 got me really scared. After the resume and the usual hang, my
hard disk did not recover and my rootfilesystem's journal aborted. Of
course I don't have messages to post as the rootfs was at this point
mounted readonly. I read those info from dmesg.
I went back to my dear 2.6.27.4 which is stable and never caused me
any problems.
Unless someone jumps in with some ideas, I'm not going to do testings
anymore. I can't lose my only machine because of this.

Fabio

OK, thanks for the testing so far.
Please just ignore the subsequent automatic messages about this regression.
Thanks,

I don't know about this specifc case (not enough information) but for
the case I described it's not a regression. Going to interrupt driven
from busy waiting is an improvement not a regression :)

Sure it is. :-)
Let's wait for the reporter to respond.

Well, several thousand or more interrupts really seems like a
regression :). But it seems that's the same thing as the “IRQ
spinning” (there was a thread on dri-devel about that).
It seems fixed with a patch from Matthew Garrett applied to
drm-intel/for-airlied but I don't think this has been applied to Linus
master.
Cheers,

And it seems the same thing as

Kamezawa has a fix that Li has tested. We need to polish the changelog
and resend the patch.

The patch I had success with was the one enabling MSI on 965. You can
find it there:
http://marc.info/?l=dri-devel&m=122843874524733&w=2
Not sure if it's “the one” really usable, but at least it fixes the
problem for now.

Looks like the patch was from Keith, not me?
Unrelatedly, I didn't get the Cc:ed copy of this mail. Did you get a

Still present. It has been bisected to:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
commit 5e55aa8db085dad1aabb4574c73c23c7ae571e7b
Author: Dave Kleikamp <shaggy-23VcF4HTsmIX0ybBhKVfKdBPR1lH4CV8@public.gmane.org>
Date: Sun Oct 26 18:20:14 2008 -0400
sched_clock: prevent scd->clock from moving backwards
commit 5b7dba4ff834259a5623e03a565748704a8fe449 upstream
sched_clock: prevent scd->clock from moving backwards
When sched_clock_cpu() couples the clocks between two cpus, it may
increment scd->clock beyond the GTOD tick window that __update_sched_clock()
uses to clamp the clock. A later call to __update_sched_clock() may move
the clock back to scd->tick_gtod + TICK_NSEC, violating the clock's
monotonic property.
This patch ensures that scd->clock will not be set backward.

(well, at least they failed to show the bug so far).
