Hi!
I just gave 2.5.42 with ACPI a testdrive on my Asus L8400 laptop. It
booted (early 2.5 version I tried crashed on boot).
However, when my fan starts I wont stop. The same kernel without ACPI
work fine.
Is my acpi-bios broken or is a linux-acpi bug?
/Pontus Fuchs

It could be both; its hard to tell. Try to investigate /proc/acpi/thermal/*/* etc. Pavel -- Casualities in World Trade Center: ~3k dead inside the building, cryptography in U.S.A. and free speech in Czech Republic. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

Try to investigate > /proc/acpi/thermal/*/* etc. /proc/acpi/fan/FAN/state says that my fan is "off" even though it's on. I have no /proc/acpi/thermal directory. /Pontus Fuchs ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

I did not noticed that before, since I use my own kernel module for this stuff, but the specs say that this is a minimal requirement for the thermal zone. -- Ducrot Bruno http://www.poupinou.org Page profaissionelle http://toto.tu-me-saoules.com Haume page ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread
