Hi!
I just gave 2.5.42 with ACPI a testdrive on my Asus L8400 laptop. It
booted (early 2.5 version I tried crashed on boot).
However, when my fan starts I wont stop. The same kernel without ACPI
work fine.
Is my acpi-bios broken or is a linux-acpi bug?

It could be both; its hard to tell. Try to investigate
/proc/acpi/thermal/*/* etc.

/proc/acpi/fan/FAN/state says that my fan is "off" even though it's on.
I have no /proc/acpi/thermal directory.

BTW, I have only one trip point (critical) for my thermal zone. But thermal didn't
appar anymore. I did not noticed that before, since I use my own kernel module
for this stuff, but the specs say that this is a minimal requirement for the
thermal zone.
