A word of caution:

bthid does not seem to play nicely with the recently released
bluez-utils 2.7. Every time I tried to connect to my MS mouse, it would
ask for a pin code. I had to uninstall bluez-{utils|libs} 2.7 and
revert back to the 2.6 release before this problem would go away again.

I'm really hoping there was another solution?!?

Rob.

I haven't seen such problem. Do you enabled auth or encrypt in your
hcid.conf? Look with hcidump at the connection setup and show it to us.

Regards

Marcel

Update: I received the PIN prompt...

This time, before I tried to connect, I pushed the Connect Channel
button on the bottom of the mouse:

hcidump:

> HCI Event: Command Status(0x0f) plen 4
> HCI Event: Connect Complete(0x03) plen 11

as I said, don't enable auth and encrypt in hcid.conf, because this is
security mode 3. Make also sure that only one hcid is running.

Why do you need that? The mouse and keyboard reconnects after you've
pressed a key. The only thing you have to start is bthid in daemon mode.

Regards

Marcel

disabled these - for some reason I was under the impression that I
needed them to connect to my Nokia 6600.. But I guess I was wrong :)
this was an overhang from the old laptop.

Ok, so I don't have to re-connect everytime I boot up? Cool :)
