[wiki] btrfs logo

Hiya,

i am impressed by all your work on btrfs.

Unfortunately i am unable to contribute code in any meaningful way.
But when looking at the btrfs-wiki (
http://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page ) the lack of a
recognisable logo/logotype struck me.

It, of course, may be argued whether a filesystem needs a logo or not
(i think it does), but i made one:
http://lomm.es/pub/misc/btrfs_logo.svg

Permission is herbey granted to display it in the Mediawiki
installation at btrfs.wiki.kernel.org for an indefinite time. Should
you need it for any other purpose, please contact me. I consciously
did not license the code as GPL, CC or anything else, as this would
mean people could use it for other purposes than btrfs. not the idea
of a logo.

Wah, it doesn't look like a stick of butter being sliced into hard

And thank god for that. Letting btrfs be known as "butterfs" (fat,
greasy, slimy, unhealthy) instead of "betterfs" will be just one more
in a long series of egregious marketing mistakes made by the FLOSS
community.

the Wikipedia page as well? "Btrfs ("B-tree file system," pronounced
"Butter F S") is a GPL-licensed copy-on-write file system for Linux
announced by Oracle in 2007."

you can't just change wikipedia like that, that is if you don't want
to get reverted. the idea is that you give a reliable source.
currently Valerie Henson is listed as a source for the "Butter F S"
pronunciation. If you get Chris Mason to state that it is pronounced
"better F S" than this would probably trump Valerie. If not, and you
change Wikipedia, expect to get reverted.

[ logo ] Hey, thanks.  It's always fun to see logos.

Honestly I try not to take the name part too seriously.  At the end of
the day the filesystem is only a small part of what makes the OS an OS
and its a good idea to have some fun with it.

I've always said butterfs, but betterfs and btreefs are allowed for
anyone who can't bring themselves to say butterfs in public.
