soundmodem patches for various distros?

Are soundmodem patches for various distros being kept in sync?  I
experienced a known bug with Tx switching in ALSA mode which is patched
in debian 0.10-6 but I don't see it patched in Fedora yet, nor at Tom's
baycom home page.  I guess that means there's a fair amount of duplicate
effort.....

No, they are not.   If Tom does not collect updates, then they
have divergent evolution..

If you have time, do push things to Tom, and get things distributed.

And while you are at it, do get rid of the graphical configurator,
and the whole package of XML configuration.  Just unnecessary junk.

If you have to have some "standard way" to configure, try Java Properties,
which are lines like this:

        keyword  \s+  parameters

(of course those configuration statements are of much older origin than Java,
but for people with excessive modernity fixations, it is nice to be able to
claim otherwise...)

Ok, a first attempt at collecting patches (from debian and fedora)

How exactly would you represent a tree in a non sucking way with this
format?

soundmodem is essentially a tree where each node (not only leaves) can
have properties - sounds like xml to me. And it's not that xml cannot be
typed into a standard text editor...

Also, the graphical configurator is not only a configurator, it allows
you to also display scope like curves. For this, X seems natural - I'm
not going to port this to aalib 8-)

I found that that particular patch didn't really solve the job on
my system - soundmodem was still crashing out due to an EPIPE
(input overrun) after every transmission or two.

I've got a good fix for this, and plan to send a patch to Tom...
perhaps he can be persuaded to put together a new upstream
release (0.11?) with this and a couple of other ALSA fixes.
