Hello all,

We probably have the most elaborate DOS installation of anywhere
on the planet. Among our elaborate setup is a bunch of batch files that
do different things based on the drive label.

Under dosemu, my drive's label shows up as just "AP". Using
LABEL.EXE to change it gives me the error message "Unable to set volume
label". I use direct access to the disk to run dosemu. Is there a way
to change the label?

it's probably easiest to do that using the Linux "mlabel" utility, part of
the mtools suite.

Ah, ok - it seems that my DOS is having problems with drive labels
through dosemu. mlabel correctly reports the drive label, and I can
reset it, but in DOS, programs that read the label still get garbage.

LABEL.EXE usually crashes dosemu when run. If it doesn't, dosemu
usually crashes shortly after I try mucking with labels. I'm using
dosemu 1.0.2.1 under X11. Should I try 1.1.4?

Actually, it seems this could be a bug in DR-DOS. I just accidently
reproduced it on an actual DOS workstation. Crud.

it's likely just that, i've noticed some other little bugs like that too.
One for example is that you need to type the full filename with the exe
extention in dosemu to run it. I have MS-DOS now anyways.

Actually it's probably LFN that strikes again.

This is what you get when you've a floppy with LFN (from WINDOZE) and
use MSDOZE 6.22 to look at it. That "AP" is the beginning of a LFN
that starts with "A".
