* [PATCH] Disable mv643xx Ethernet port 0 on Pegasos
From: Gabriel Paubert @ 2009-02-10 16:13 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev list
After the last changes, the mv643xx_eth driver now detects
a spurious interface on port 0. Since only port 1 is actually
connected to a PHY, remove its description.
Signed-off-by: Gabriel Paubert <paubert@iram.es>
---
Tested on the last batch of Pegasos produced. Caveat: do not enable
the Marvell PHY driver in your config, however the generic one works.

Why are you mentioning ARM?

To the best of my knowledge i2c-mpc falls into the "embedded platforms"
category and is thus under Ben's responsibility.

This patch has nothing to do with ARM, so Kumar will pick it up, if you
ACK it.

No, that's something for either Ben Dooks (Cc'd) or the powerpc tree.

* [PATCH] powerpc/cell: fix dependency in cpufreq
From: Arnd Bergmann @ 2009-02-10 15:55 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: Michael Neuling; +Cc: linuxppc-dev, Christian Krafft
In-Reply-To: <25212.1234231317@neuling.org>
cbe_cpufreq has a partial dependency on cbe_cpufreq_pmi, which cannot
be easily expressed in Kconfig. This fixes it by introducing an
extra Kconfig symbol CBE_CPUFREQ_PMI_ENABLE. To make the dependency
clearer, turn PPC_PMI into an automatic symbol.

* [PATCH] powerpc/83xx: Revive Marvell PHY option on MPC8313E-RDB rev. C boards
From: Anton Vorontsov @ 2009-02-10 15:10 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: Kumar Gala; +Cc: linuxppc-dev, Li Yang
In-Reply-To: <ED186496-3882-4E87-9BEC-B56FE09C5827@kernel.crashing.org>
commit e85477f516c2de7ed515fcf94ceab5282eba7fa4 ("powerpc/83xx: Fix
TSEC0 workability on MPC8313E-RDB boards") fixed TSEC0 workability for
rev. A and rev. B boards by using fixed-link property for VSC 7385
5-port switch. But rev. C boards have an option where TSEC0 connected
to a Marvell PHY, which is a normal PHY on MDIO bus.
So far U-Boot does not fix up TSEC0 nodes for MPC8313E-RDB boards, so
we'd better include two device-tree files: one that specify Vitesse
PHY and another for boards with Marvell PHY option.

Li, thanks for heads-up!
One thing though: documentation says that Marvell PHY address is
0x3, while old device tree and this patch:
http://www.bitshrine.org/gpp/linux-fsl-2.6.23-MPC8313ERDB-add-default-dts.patch
says "0x1"... I don't have any rev. C boards, so it would
be great if somebody could confirm that 0x1 is the actual address.

Right, the ring address is definitely broken. 0xd0000000xxxxxxxxx is
probably the right location for the ring, but the offset 0x6402505
into it seems ways off. This comes from dev_priv->ring.tail, which is
set up in radeon_do_cp_reset() and radeon_cp_init_ring_buffer().
You can instrument these two functions with printk() to see whether
one of them is called at all, and where the value comes from.

* writel hangs system
From: Tobias Knutsson @ 2009-02-10 13:07 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev@ozlabs.org
Hello,
I'm in the process of porting a PCI-driver for a dsp-board from 2.4 to
2.6. The probing of the driver goes well, IRQs are setup, resources
are claimed and remapped without any problems. Reading from I/O
regions also works well. However, when i try to read or write to a
memory region using readl/writel, the system instantly hangs. No
stacktrace or anything, it just stops.
My question is what could cause the writel operation to hang the
system? As far as I can tell, writel is a macro that expands to:
*(volatile unsigned int*)(addr) =3D val;
The addresses returned by io_remap are as follows:

* correct way for handling PCIe in endpoint mode
From: Scott Coulter @ 2009-02-10 12:39 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev
Hi all,
Maybe a silly questions, but what is the suggested way for handling a
processor which has a PCIe interface, but the interface is not
configured to be the root complex (endpoint only)?
Should the PCIe interface appear in the dts? If so, with what
parameters?
Should the kernel config contain CONFIG_PCI, etc. ?
Thanks,
Scott

Actually, that's not the root cause here. You seem to have CONFIG_SMP
disabled but CONFIG_NUMA enabled. That's not possible on x86 which
makes me think it's a ppc kconfig bug. Hmm?

That is a really old, non-final kernel release. I'm not sure why
you are using that. arch/ppc isn't supported any longer.

In a similar manner, cbe_cpufreq.c uses cpufreq_frequency_table_target
(and a bunch of other cpufreq table functions) but CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_TABLE
can be set as a module, so won't be built in. This hence causes a link
error at the final stage.
Again, config below.
Arnd, I'm not sure how you want to fix this stuff?

* [PATCH] shift 64bit unmapped_area to top of address space
From: Anton Blanchard @ 2009-02-10 6:42 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev

in the middle of the address space on 64bit:

Right now it isn't an issue, but at some stage we will run into mmap or
hugetlb allocation issues. Using the same layout as 32bit gives us a
some breathing room. This matches what x86-64 is doing too.

Hi Linus !
A few powerpc bits for you for 2.6.29. A few bug and regression fixes
(after this pull, it will be regressions only), a couple of board
device tree updates and some trivialities such as build breakage with
random config options due to missing includes.
Among others, this should solve the regressions with X being broken
on PowerMacs due to the legacy_mem files in sysfs returning an error on
mmap.
The following changes since commit 4c098bcd55fad34dcf224bf8343db6a9ac58fc68:

Hi,
When I make zImage, the errors below came out. Any tips?

Thanks!

* [PATCH] powerpc/85xx: Added 36-bit physical device tree for mpc8572ds board
From: Kumar Gala @ 2009-02-10 4:05 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev
In-Reply-To: <1234238751-11900-1-git-send-email-galak@kernel.crashing.org>
Added a device tree that should be identical to mpc8572ds.dtb except
the physical addresses for all IO are above the 4G boundary.

* [PATCH] powerpc/fsl-booke: Fix mapping functions to use phys_addr_t
From: Kumar Gala @ 2009-02-10 3:20 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev
Fixed v_mapped_by_tlbcam() and p_mapped_by_tlbcam() to use phys_addr_t
instead of unsigned long. In 36-bit physical mode we really need these
functions to deal with phys_addr_t when trying to match a physical
address or when returning one.

* [PATCH] Only disable/enable LSI interrupts in EEH
From: Mike Mason @ 2009-02-10 3:07 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linuxppc-dev; +Cc: linasvepstas, paulus, ellerman
The EEH code disables and enables interrupts during the
device recovery process. This is unnecessary for MSI
and MSI-X interrupts because they are effectively disabled
by the DMA Stopped state when an EEH error occurs. The
current code is also incorrect for MSI-X interrupts. It
doesn't take into account that MSI-X interrupts are tracked
in a different way than LSI/MSI interrupts. This
patch ensures only LSI interrupts are disabled/enabled.
The patch also includes a couple minor formatting fixes.
