Hello All,

I would like to know how I can prioritize packets coming from a specific source( a known IP address in the network) during routing by using iptables and iproute2.

Regards,

Andreas

You can do this using iproute2 and CBQ or HTB (where I prefer the latter
because it's easier to configure and works very well).
CBQ and HTB are both in kernel 2.4.20 (which you may have to recompile).

HTB has very good options than CBQ. But bit confusing...

Aren't we discussing Netfilter in this list ?

You should consider STFW and see http://lartc.org/howto/...

"As your HTB configuration gets more complex, your configuration scales
well. With CBQ it is already complex even in simple cases!"

Well, some say that CBQ is very inacurate, but very often is sufficient,
which i know from experience. HTB is said to be a bit easier and more
acurate.

Please read about it on www.lartc.org

I believe this can better help you than iptables...as iptables is just a
firewall soloution... you are looking more for a routing soloution
