Hello,

I would like to ask about support for Samsung devices that use IPC like i9100 (galaxys2). I would like to get it work for postmarketOS project - http:/wiki.postmarketos.org/

I found this old post https://lists.ofono.org/pipermail/ofono/2012-September/013766.html that send patchset for support via libsamsung-ipc. But I do not see any samsung driver in current repository.

Does please anyone have any info about this topic ( is it supported, was the patchset included, etc. )?

Thanks,

From what I remember there was an initial RFC submission but the
licenses were incompatible there was no follow up after that.

Maybe Simon (the original author, CCed) can tell you more..

Hello Denis,

I noticed that Simon uses also different email on github. So I also
added it to CC just in case.

I would like to ask other question - there is some ofono driver for ril
if I understand it correctly. Wouldn't that work with samsung-ril layer?

https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/Samsung-RIL

Thanks,

Tomas

I just checked COPYING in libsamsung-ipc and it is GPLv2

https://git.replicant.us/replicant/external_libsamsung-ipc/tree/COPYING

Is there still a problem including the patch?

Thanks,

Tomas

We have tested oFono RIL driver with an Intel vendor RIL. Other people
(e.g. Ubuntu and SailFish OS) have used their own non-upstream version
of the RIL driver on their devices. I don't see why it wouldn't work,
but you most likely would require some workarounds. There is always
device specific / vendor specific behavior that needs tweaking.

License wise it would be okay. But someone still needs to go through
the submission process, address feedback, etc.
