I'm not sure where this issue is coming from so I'm just going to dump

Within the git package, there is a file that has a header similar to:
#! /usr/bin/python
This is incorrect, it should be /usr/bin/env python (or /bin/env python if you
flatten the filesystem).
Did you build the python package? If not I'd say there is probably a bug (or
bugs) in the git recipe.

HI Mark,
I sent a patch (see above) which added python as a dependency and that
seemed to fix it. Whether or not this is the right fix I don't know...
should git require the python binary to run? I really don't know much
about it...

I think this depends is needed based on some easy evaluation of git.
git (at least git-native) provides one example python script, and some python
modules.. these should be broken off into other sub packages to help eliminate
the -runtime- python requirement (I'm assuming they're both optional for general
git usage....)
But someone with more knowledge with git then me should go that.

Git requires python by default as an included script to link git
to perforce is written in Python. Define NO_PYTHON to stop the
script being included and thus remove the dependancy on Python.
