Hi, I want to run a debian with reiser4, but since reiser4 went out, there is no one that run it without problems, anyone knows if any kernel with -mm patches runs well?.. I think nowadays all people are losing time with reiser4, because I read that reiser4 comes without anything positive than others (that is because comes with "core" only).. If someone can set up for three or more days a system stable with reiser4 and 2.6.X kernel please tell me who!

P.D. Personally, I think kernel 2.6.8 has better stability than 2.6.9 :)

It seems like the most recent reiser4 is not as stable as past ones. It
is the weekend, let's give vs a few days to fix things starting on monday.

Apart from my recent issues, which I just realized others have reported
as well, the -cko series has been the best for me, and unfortunately
the -rc2-mm2 crashes even worse for me (if I turn debug on), so it'll
take a while before I can say anything more.

Reiser4progs is still in Debian, so that's nothing.

I just used debootstrap to install from a small partition which I still
have as reiserfs.

It's not a big issue to install it yourself.

Me!! I switched two systems to reiser4 a couple of weeks ago, and
they're rock solid (with 2.6.9-cko3). So there's a few problems
emerging in the rc2-mm series - that shouldn't shock anyone! That's
why "release candidates" and the testing kernel series exist.
Stability is available where you need it.

cheers, Cal

I don't have so much problem as using it as a storage FS, I use reiser3
for my root filesystem, couldn't trust that, I wouldn't give it a risk
such as apache bugs before, pretty unstable tho, I have a 200GB and a
160GB HD using as non-root folder for storage, nothing crash but the
repacker sucks, Hans seems giveup on repacker idea, well, what's next ?

i have quite some machines running with 2.6.9-rc4-mmSomething, with
reiser4, running perfectly, (2 of them with reiser4 as root fs) they
have like 4 days in uptime, average. (since quite often there are
rebooted to test stuff in another install)

my workstation, reiser4 as storage, it runs perfect, no issues, i have
currently 2.6.10-rc2-mm2, since it came, no problems. (i plan on move to
reiser4 for root when i can bother repartition and start use lvm2)

a friends workstation has reiser4 rootfs, it has like 12 hours average
uptime :) he dont use his computer much, but no problems there..
