Is it possible to compile compat-wireless source against 2.4.20 kernel.

No.  compat-wireless requires 2.6.27 and compat-wireless-old requires
2.6.22, as stated at http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download

You may have better chances with MadWifi trunk, which supports some of
the devices supported by ath9k and requires Linux 2.4.22.  You only need
to backport it two versions back.  I believe the problem with kernels
prior to 2.4.22 was lack of crypto support.

actually you can now use compat-wireless on 2.6.25, I haven't made a splash
about it as I haven't even tested it, but it compiles. We should also be
able to bring compat-wireless down to 2.6.21 again but haven't gotten to
bringing it down further. Patches are welcomed though. Then we can rm -rf
compat-wireless-old.

Hi,

Thanks for your inputs.
But is it true that lack of mac80211 stack in the 2.4 kernel, that is
causing implementation of wifi-n driver with same.
Pls suggest what more is lacking in 2.4 kernel that stops implementation of
wifi-n.
