Hi Arjan,

Can you elaborate on the current state of the fastboot activities? This
tree here:

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/arjan/linux-2.6-async-for-30.git;a=summary

came to a stop in march, and the mainline contains the asyncronous init
stuff, but no "fastboot" parameter as described on LWN:

http://lwn.net/Articles/314808/

Thanks,
rsc

there is no more option; the behavior is there by default.... so it's all integrated and done..

That's bad :-) So there is no room for improvement any more in our ARM
boot sequences ...

Thanks,

on x86 we're doing pretty well ;-)

On i.MX27 (400 MHz ARM926EJ-S) we currently need 7 s, measured from
power-on through the kernel up to "starting init". This is with

- no delay in u-boot-v2
- rootfs on NAND (UBIFS)
- quiet
- precalculated loops-per-jiffy
- zImage kernel instead of uImage
