First of all, I think it's a poor approach, because there's no way to garantee
the TPM is doing what it's supposed to (can you read its source code? how do
you know for sure there are no backdoors?).

But the important here is not whether there's something wrong with the use case
you described or not. The important is that this use case is lumped together
with something seriously nasty, and that its promoters are acting
irresponsibly by not allowing us to make the distinction.

The DRM opt-in fallacy: "Your data belongs to us. We will decide when (and
how) you may access your data; but nobody's threatening your freedom: we
still allow you to remove your data and not access it at all."
